How We Can Help You Pick Out the Right Toothbrush
Posted on 6/15/2019 by Dr. Elizabeth Vivona
Do you have toothbrush issues? Do you know how to pick a good toothbrush? Do you find yourself standing in front of the dental aisle at your grocery store, trying to find a toothbrush that is right for you? How do you know what is the right toothbrush for you?
If you are having toothbrush anxiety, we can help. Keep reading below for some helpful suggestions.
Types of Toothbrushes
If you like manual toothbrushes, be sure that you pick a brush with soft bristles. While many people think hard bristles are the way to go, because they clean your teeth well, in reality, they also scrape enamel off your teeth- and no one wants that. Your tooth enamel is your teeth's armor, and we want to keep as much of that in your mouth as possible.
You also want to select a manual toothbrush with a head that fits in your mouth comfortably. If the head is too large, you will not be able to brush your teeth correctly and reach all of your teeth and gumline in the back of your mouth, where bacteria love to hide. Change your manual toothbrush out every 3 to 4 months to limit the amount of bacteria in your mouth.
If you like electric toothbrushes, there are lots of options to choose from. Electric toothbrushes can be as cheap as $5 for a battery-powered model to over $200 for a chargeable one. Pick a toothbrush that has a timer so you can set your tooth brushing for 2 minutes. Also, as with the manual toothbrush, be sure that you have a soft head for the toothbrush so you don't damage your teeth or gums. Change the head of the brush every three to four months.

What Our Patients Are Saying About Us.
"Without a doubt the best dental office I've ever been a patient of. The dentists and their hygienists are all very friendly and knowledgable, and they do their best to make you as comfortable as possible. I haven't tried other dentists in Eugene, but I know I'm not alone in my opinion here… definitely recommend!" ~ Timothy
"Dr. Vivona was recommended to me by a friend and I couldn't be happier with my experience. While I wish I didn't need dental work, my experience with her has been great. She takes her time to make sure she's properly diagnosing. While doing the work, she was gentle, thorough and explained everything along the way, making sure I was comfortable. I highly recommend her" ~ Audrey
"I was greeted as I was walking in the door by two wonderful assistants. The hygienist was wonderful and encouraging through the whole exam. Over all the staff is the best I’ve encountered through dental and would recommend Dr. Vivona to anyone looking for quality and gentle care." ~Kimmi
