How to Balance Your Mouth After Eating or Drinking Something AcidicWe all love to enjoy coffee or sour treats every once in a while. Though these things are tasty, they can do a lot of harm to your teeth and mouth.

Acidic foods and drinks wear away more quickly at your teeth's enamel. Unfortunately, enamel can't grow back, and once it's gone, it's gone for good. Luckily, there are many things you can do to combat enamel decay after eating or drinking acidic foods or drinks.

It may seem strange, but you can combat acidic foods by eating more food. Cheese is a great way to neutralize acidic foods and drinks. All you need to do is enjoy some cheese before partaking in any acidic foods or drinks. Cheese has a neutral pH level, and what's more, it creates a barrier on the surface of your teeth. When you eat cheese, a small amount of it gets stuck to your teeth, which shields them from the acid in foods and drinks.

Water To The Rescue!

You can also combat acidic foods and drinks by drinking more water. After your morning coffee, try to drink some water to protect your mouth. Like cheese, water has a neutral pH level. It also helps wash away any acidic food or drinks left in your mouth. Tap water in particular is great for your teeth because it contains fluorine—a chemical that strengthens enamel. Creating strong enamel is a great way to prevent enamel loss, so try to drink water whenever you get a chance.
