Acid, in general, is not good for the teeth. This is something that you may not realize is in a lot of foods and drinks. Many drinks are naturally filled with acid, and many drinks, such as bottled water, actually have a higher than normal acidic level. Having more information about the acid found in these drinks can help your dental health stay in the best shape. Acidic drinks can include anything such as sodas, juice, sports drinks and wines. These are all acidic, with juices being naturally acidic, especially orange juice. Water is generally the safest way to go for a healthier drink to consume that will not hurt your teeth. Acid in Drinks and Your TeethCitric acid is sometimes added to drinks for the flavoring that comes from the use of this acid. These acids easily dissolve, making them a silent way for you to break down the enamel of the teeth. This leaves them open to infection, as well as sensitive. Decay happens when the enamel on the teeth is gone. This can cause further issues that a dentist would have to address. It is important to stay away from acidic drinks and foods, because this is where a lot of the problem can come from. Reading the label on the drinks and foods that you eat can provide you with more information on the acidic level of the item.
